Howie Sun, co-founder and CEO of Ann Arbor-based Laplace Intelligence, said the company provides automated red-teaming for robotics and physical AI, arguing that physical AI safety will require AI to test AI. The goal is to help companies find and fix problems before deployment and build a trusted evidence base for customers, insurers, and regulators. Sun noted that Laplace was founded a year ago with chief scientist Henry Liu at the University of Michigan; their 2023 paper appeared on the cover of Nature and drew interest from autonomous vehicle companies.
